<div>A ritualistic flash mob performance that re interprets a moment in history, <b>5100:Pentagon</b> explores modes of memorialisation and the potential of group subjectivity to challenge socio political hierarchies.<br><br>This item contains an open call leaflet, and poster, 8 choreography drawings,11 performance images, and 3 scanned pages of the festival programme (included courtesy of the Block Universe Performance Festival).<br><br>This item documents UK premiere of <b>5100:Pentagon</b> at the Royal Academy, London in 2017 as part of the <i>Block Universe Performance Festival</i>, a week long programme of events exploring identity and inclusivity and the power of the collective voice in divisive times. The choreographed movements for <b>5100: Pentagon </b>were inspired and developed by researching collected archival images relating to the Gwangju uprising of 18th May 1980 and first performed at the 2014 Gwangju Biennale.<br><br>The video of the Royal Academy Performance of <b>5100:Pentagon</b> was also shown at <i>The Moon’s Trick</i> 2017 at the Korean Cultural Centre, London and <i>MaytoDay</i> 2020, the international exhibition commemorating and examining the legacies of the 18 May 1980 Gwangju Uprising.
