This item documents UK premiere of 5100:Pentagon at the Royal Academy, London in 2017 as part of the Block Universe Performance Festival, a week long programme of events exploring identity and inclusivity and the power of the collective voice in divisive times. The choreographed movements for
5100: Pentagon were
inspired and developed by researching collected archival images
relating to the Gwangju uprising of 18th May 1980 and first performed at the 2014 Gwangju Biennale.
The video of the Royal Academy Performance of 5100:Pentagon was also shown at The Moon’s Trick 2017 at the Korean Cultural Centre, London and MaytoDay 2020, the international exhibition commemorating and examining the legacies of the 18 May 1980 Gwangju Uprising.
