<div><p><b>Material Soundsystems </b>explores the possibilities of forging symbiotic and dynamic connections between the seemingly opposite properties of sound and matter. This research is bought together in 3 new projects, <b>Mute,</b> <b>Ecstatic Material and Bloom </b>where live performative experiments are conducted to test how sound animates materials and materials create sound.<br><br>This item contains 8 performance views, 2 pages from the Borealis Festival Programme, 1 limited edition poster by the artist, and a promotional video.<br><br>This item documents the staging of <b>Ecstatic Material</b> at the Borealis Festival, a festival of experimental music in Bergen, Norway. Commissioned by Outlands, <b>Ecstatic Material </b>is a collaborative performance between musician and producer Beatrice Dillon and artist Keith Harrison. After its 9 venues in 9 days tour in the UK in February 2019, the artists were invited to give 3 performances of <b>Ecstatic Material </b>at Lydgalleriet, a non commercial Bergen based gallery for sound based practice, as part of the Borealis Festival, Bergen, Norway on 6th & 7th March 2020. The performance takes the form of a live experiment with sound and substance using modular systems of malleable materials and multi channelled audio equipment. <b>Ecstatic Materia</b>l was curated by Jennifer Lucy Allen and Al Cameron.</p><p>Documentation of other 2019 <b>Ecstatic Material</b> performances is contained in 3 other venues items: South London Gallery, <i>Caustic Coasta</i>l, Manchester & <i>Karst</i>, Plymouth.<br><br>Outlands is a new national experimental touring network promoting interdisciplinary art and music.<br><b><br>Photography: Johanne Karlsrud & Thor Brødreskift/ Borealis.
