Mount Athos - Exhibition at Mount Athos Centre in Thessaloniki (24 October 2014 – 28 February 2015) and Exhibition Catalogue
Mount Athos is a collection of drawings, paintings, and animations documenting Orthodox monastic life on this remote peninsula of North Eastern Greece. Tim Vyner uses reportage illustration methods to explore the potential of drawing as a means of engagement, producing these illustrations during his 2013 - 2015 Mount Athos residency, as part of the inaugural Doug Patterson RCA Bursary, culminating in two exhibitions in 2014/2015 and 2018.
This item contains documentation of the exhibition at the Mount Athos Centre in Thessaloniki held from 24 October 2014 – 28 February 2015. All 85 works were exhibited. In preparing the exhibition, Vyner placed the sketchbooks, brushes and other ephemera in the cabinets to give a sense of authenticity about an 'artist in the field'.
