‘Re-writing the Machinic Anthropocene’ asks how speculative fictional methods can be used within the field of media art, to expose the materialities of digital technologies and to bring into view non human 'voices' and perspectives.

This item contains documentation of the performance lecture 'The Signal and the rock' which emerged from the initial mapping process, highlighting the material realities of a single capacitor component from a smart phone. In this way it converted the findings from the map into a performative work that exposes the network of the capacitor's production, operation and disposal and begins to propose alternative network relations using a speculative fiction approach.
