Sadang B (2019) is an exhibition project comprised of three newly commissioned projects, Un-Splitting (Performance), The White Mask (Music performance) and To Paint the Portrait of a Bird (Installation). This interdisciplinary project questions the normalisation of extreme nationalism and social inequality by exploring the human - animal boundary through the lens of those socially marginalised in South Korea. Sadang B is suggested as a site where these enquiries can take place.

This item contains a performance outline, a 3 minute film of the performance, 5 performance views, 3 images of poses and the script used by the performers.

This item documents the performance of Un-Splitting, 1 of 3 works for Sadang B at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, Korea in 2019. Un-Splitting directly addresses the notion of the 'animal-ity' within us, as humans. The performance was developed in collaboration with choreographer Stephanie Schuelbeck by combining the body poses from photographs of oppressed female workers in post war South Korea and the movements of animals and birds.
