Impact Knit and Knatter (part of doing together 24)
Impact Knit and Knatter
Workshop with Dr Astrid Breel as part of doing together 24
Friday 5 April 2024
Bath Spa University's Impact Research Fellow, Dr Astrid Breel, facilitated an informal conversation about impact, to which participants were welcome to bring their own knitting, crochet, or be taught how to spin wool using materials provided. Together, participants directed conversation using the prompts 'How can practice research be impactful?' 'What barriers are there to overcome?' 'Are there unique impact opportunities that practice research presents?' 'How can we shout more loudly about the impact potential of practice research?'

Workshops, delivered by staff and postgraduate students from across the University, share practice-based research methods and a broad range of approaches to practice. doing together is proposed as a generous space to make/do/share and discuss practice with colleagues from a range of different Schools.
Throughout the symposium, facilitators – alongside participants – test out ways of doing together in an effort to make their practice-based research explicit, rather than simply describe it.
