Speaker Biography: Valerie is the Research Manager at Arts University, Bournemouth. A librarian in a former life, she was a REF panel secretary for REF 2014 and was responsible for coordinating AUBs REF 2021 submission which included a range of non-traditional outputs including a sonic art installation, museum website and a costume! 

Presentation Synopsis: Practice based outputs require considerable institutional effort to make them REF ready for submission. Drawing on lessons learnt from the last exercise, this presentation will set out some of the ways a smaller, specialist university is looking to support staff, many of whom don't come from a traditional academic background, in developing practice research portfolios.
